About

Alex Shannon, OTD, OTR/L, joined Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) in 2024, bringing expertise in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, post-surgical recovery, and functional restoration. With a strong background in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, she is passionate about helping patients regain independence, mobility, and strength in their daily lives.

Dr. Shannon earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in 2024 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University (2021). Her clinical training includes extensive experience in hand therapy, post-operative rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal conditions, having completed her capstone at Orthopedic Physicians Alaska and clinical rotations at Alaska Hand Rehabilitation and HandX in Idaho.

She specializes in hand and wrist injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, splinting, and upper extremity function. Dr. Shannon stays at the forefront of her field by engaging in continuing education, including advanced coursework in shoulder evaluation, rotator cuff management, and the treatment of complex hand and wrist injuries.

Dr. Shannon believes in a patient-centered, hands-on approach to rehabilitation, helping individuals regain function and confidence in their movements. Whether guiding patients through post-surgical recovery, managing chronic pain, or improving strength and dexterity, she is committed to providing evidence-based care that maximizes outcomes.

Originally from Alaska, Dr. Shannon is excited to be back in her home state, where she enjoys hiking, skiing, and exploring the outdoors. She is passionate about helping Alaskans return to the activities they love with restored function and confidence.
