Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Matthew Dow Joins Orthopedic Physicians Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — October 9, 2026 — Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) is pleased to welcome Matthew D. Dow, DO, a board-certified primary care sports medicine physician, who joined the practice on October 5, 2026. Dr. Dow provides non-surgical care for sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, including concussion management and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. He is now seeing patients at OPA’s main clinic on Lake Otis Parkway in Anchorage.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Dow join OPA,” said Tim Mullen, CEO of OPA. “His experience caring for athletes at every level, from high school sidelines to professional football, makes him a fantastic addition to our team. Dr. Dow will help us further grow our sports medicine program so even more Alaskans can recover and stay active.”
“Alaskans are some of the most active people anywhere, and I love helping them get back on the trail, the ice or the slopes,” said Dr. Dow. “My goal is to find the right treatment for each patient so they can return to what they love as quickly and safely as possible.”
Dr. Dow earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed a family medicine residency at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, where he was chief resident, and a sports medicine fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with an added qualification in sports medicine.
Dr. Dow also teaches the next generation of physicians as a preceptor for the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program. He has presented on concussion management and PRP at the All-Alaska Medical Conference.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Dow plays goalie in ice hockey and enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing and kayaking with his wife and two dogs.
