About
Dr. Cristina Copus is a board certified, fellowship-trained rheumatologist with a background in internal medicine, osteopathic medicine and a personal mission to help others achieve better health.
Her interest in medicine began as an Anchorage high school freshman – with a broken leg. She endured a long rehabilitation and the experience sparked an early desire to pursue her own career in medicine to help others in the way her doctors helped her.
She graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a growing passion to help others. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Texas and completed her internal medicine residency at Baylor Scott and White Hospital. During her training, she developed a keen interest in rheumatology and the wide spectrum of complicated disease it offers, as well as an appreciation for the unique opportunity rheumatologists have to establish close, life-long relationships with their patients.
After med school and residency, Dr. Copus took her passion to the next level and completed a rheumatology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital.
Today she is a vital member of the OPA rheumatology team and is excited to care for patients in her home community. When not helping others to enjoy their lives, she’s out enjoying hers – fishing, camping, hiking, running, skiing, or reading a good mystery novel.
