Meet Paul Manabat, OTD, OTR/L

Paul Manabat is a first‑generation immigrant from the Philippines who grew up in Ketchikan, Alaska. He served eight years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, where he utilized his educational benefits and discovered his passion for health care. After completing his service and receiving an honorable discharge, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage while working as a rehabilitation aide in the therapy department at the local hospital. This experience inspired him to pursue advanced education, ultimately leading him to earn his Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University.

Today at OPA he helps patients recover from a wide range of hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder conditions. His patient-centered treatment plans are carefully orchestrated to include collaboration with patients, family members and additional healthcare professionals to best support patient recovery goals.

When not helping others here at OPA, he is either spending time with his wife and 3 children or sharing a genuine laugh over a delicious meal. He enjoys the Alaskan outdoors and sports, particularly basketball at all levels – especially wheelchair basketball with the team at Challenge Alaska.
