Meet Sydney McDonough, DPT
Sydney McDonough earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Daemen College in Buffalo, New York, in 2021, graduating summa cum laude. During her time at Daemen, she was also a collegiate track and field athlete, an experience that helped foster her passion for movement, performance, and rehabilitation.
Following graduation, Sydney spent five years working as a traveling physical therapist, gaining diverse clinical experience across New York, South Carolina, Virginia, the Washington, D.C. area, Colorado, and Alaska. Her travels provided the opportunity to work in a wide range of settings, including outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient neurology, school-based therapy, and home health care. This varied background allows her to bring a well-rounded, patient-centered approach to treatment.
Sydney relocated to Anchorage in 2024 and quickly fell in love with Alaska’s mountains and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Before joining OPA as a permanent team member, she worked locally with Runner’s Edge Physical Therapy and Providence Home Health with Compassus. Outside the clinic, she enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and ice skating.
Sydney has a special interest in treating low back pain and overuse tendinopathies, building on both her clinical experience and continuing education coursework. She also speaks Spanish, which helps her connect with and serve a broader patient population.
Sydney enjoys connecting with her patients and guiding them back to the activities they love most!
