Leigh Kingsbury, PT, DPT, joined Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) in August 2024, bringing a strong commitment to evidence-based care, patient empowerment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Kingsbury’s approach to physical therapy focuses on helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence while guiding them back to an active, fulfilling lifestyle.
Dr. Kingsbury earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2021 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology & Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College, graduating in 2018. She is a Certified Lymphedema and Wound Care Therapist (CLWT) through the International Lymphedema & Wound Training Institute (2023) and holds additional certifications in Vestibular Rehabilitation (2022), Dry Needling (2024) through the Institute of Clinical Excellence, and a Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Certificate from Klose Training (2024).
Dr. Kingsbury specializes in neurologic rehabilitation, lymphedema management, wound care, and orthopedic recovery, providing expert treatment for patients recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and orthopedic conditions. With extensive experience in inpatient rehabilitation, she is skilled in manual lymphatic drainage, post-surgical recovery, balance training, and vestibular therapy. She also actively contributes to research in CVA recovery and drug-related neurological rehabilitation to advance best practices in patient care.
Her philosophy of care centers on helping patients reclaim their health and confidence, whether through orthopedic rehabilitation, post-cancer recovery, or neurologic therapy. She finds joy in seeing her patients return to their favorite Alaskan outdoor activities stronger and healthier.
Dr. Kingsbury moved to Alaska in December 2021, after previous visits during graduate school, and now practices at OPA’s University Lake location. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring Alaska’s mountains with her husband and dog, participating in ultramarathons, cross-country and downhill skiing, biking, fishing, and ice skating.
