About
Andrew Jacobsen, DPT, joined Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) in 2024, bringing a strong foundation in orthopedic rehabilitation, sports performance, and injury prevention. His patient-centered approach focuses on helping individuals regain strength, mobility, and confidence, whether they’re recovering from surgery, managing chronic pain, or training for peak athletic performance.
Dr. Jacobsen holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (2023) and a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior from the University of Tennessee (2018). His specialized background in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor learning allows him to develop highly individualized treatment plans designed to improve functional movement, reduce pain, and optimize performance.
With experience working in outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and ICU rehabilitation, Dr. Jacobsen has treated patients across a broad spectrum of needs, from post-operative recovery to sports rehabilitation and geriatric care. He is also certified in Dry Needling (DN Pro Level 1) and applies evidence-based techniques to accelerate healing and restore movement.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Jacobsen has a deep passion for athletic performance and mental resilience, previously serving as a Mental Performance Consultant for the University of Tennessee Army ROTC. His expertise in sport psychology and motor behavior enhances his ability to work with athletes, weekend warriors, and active individuals looking to improve mobility, strength, and injury prevention strategies.
When he’s not working with patients, Dr. Jacobsen enjoys staying active outdoors, weightlifting, and helping athletes optimize their training through biomechanics and mental conditioning.
